Walk between endless rows of red-and-white horseshoe arches that seem to breathe rhythm into the air. These elegant columns and double-tiered arches belong to the Mezquita in Córdoba, Andalusia — a place where Islamic craftsmanship and later Christian additions braided together into one mesmerising gallery. Marble pillars, ornate capitals and warm terracotta floors create a repeating pattern that looks like music frozen in stone; a little history note: many columns were recycled from Roman and Visigothic buildings, which is part of the site’s layered charm.

As a puzzle, this scene is a delightful puzzle-hungry riddle. The alternating stripes form waves that trick the eye, while rows of similar columns and soft, even lighting mean long stretches of nearly identical pieces. Look out for the darker marble shafts, the hanging lamps and the gilded altar far in the back—those are your anchor points.
